Membership Application
Application or nominations for admission to the various classes of membership shall be submitted as follows:
a) Fellows: Any physician who is a resident of the United States and who is certified by (i) the American Board of Dermatology or (ii) the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology or who has training approximately equivalent to the requirements for certification by the American board of Dermatology shall be eligible to be a Fellow. Fellows shall have full membership rights as recognized under customary parliamentary practice, including, but not by way of limitation, the rights to attend general membership meetings, to participate in discussion, to vote, to be a candidate for elective office and to accept appointment to committees and councils.
Annual Dues: $150.00
(b) Associates: Any physician with involvement in dermatology from any country shall be eligible to be an Associate. This physician may be in teaching, research, industry, or a dermatologist in clinical practice. Associates shall have all rights of Fellows except that they shall not be eligible to vote or serve in any elective office but will be eligible to serve on committees and councils.
Annual Dues: $100.00
(c) Affiliates: Any non-physician with a degree in a scientific discipline or allied health profession with involvement in dermatology who is employed by a medical school, governmental or public organization, pharmaceutical company, cosmetic firm or by a physician Fellow or Associate of AARS shall be eligible to become an Affiliate.
Annual Dues: $100.00
(d) Residents: Any dermatology resident in good standing in training at any approved training center in the United States shall be eligible to become a Resident of this AARS. Residents shall have all of the rights of Fellows except that they shall not be eligible to vote or serve in any elective office except as designated by Bylaws of this AARS.
Annual Dues: $50.00
Review and Evaluation
All applications properly filed for membership as a Fellow, Associate, Affiliate, Resident or Life Member must be reviewed and evaluated by the Committee on Membership. The list of applicants shall then be circulated to the full Board of Directors for study in a manner consistent with the administrative regulations of AARS.
Election to Membership
The Committee on Membership of the Board of Directors shall review properly filed applications. The general membership shall vote to accept or reject any and all applications which may be brought to the floor of the business meeting. However, members will be given provisional membership until the annual business meeting.
